Abdullah Boushahri is an independent filmmaker and a visual artist who

was born in Kuwait on November 15, 1979. After he finished high school

in Kuwait, he went to Florida where he received his bachelor degree in film

from Florida Atlantic University, and completed a number of short films

like: Boiling Over, AKTHAR, and Kuwaiti Champion, which was named

by the Kuwaiti press as the first Kuwaiti film done in a verite style.

His first student film, “Our Catastrophe Is Still Alive”, was chosen for Fort

Lauderdale International Film Festival and got a theatrical screening at

the Regal Cinemas in Florida. His most recent short film Deserted won

the Special Jury Prize at the Emirates Film Competition, and Losing Ahmad

is Abdullah’s first feature-documentary film.

Since his early childhood, Abdullah grew up watching his formative artist

father, Abdulrasoul Salman, paint, write, and screen his 8mm films on their

living room wall. Such viewing and a creative environment had a great impact

on shaping Abdullah’s artistic memory and interest in Cinema and the art

of filmmaking.
